Shocking developments from the Normal, Mn School Board last night. As you know, there has been a severe enrollment decline caused by fewer births and also by students leaving for charter schools for a variety of reasons---all of which has led to a "doom loop".
Last night the parents and teachers agreed they want no cuts. Period.
In a surprising response, the Normal, Mn school board voted to mandate "home schooling" for one school year. After all, "en loco parentis" means in place of the parents, but if the math does not work, it all reverts to home schooling. Stay tuned as I follow this story. After a year when cooler heads prevail, maybe there can be some progress made.
